This painting revisits a theme I used to explore often: the dance. I've always been especially intrigued by dancers (or athletes) preparing to perform, the psychology of preparation more than the dance itself, really. Maybe this will be the start of a new series of dancer paintings. I dream that some little girl will get this painting as a gift and it will inspire her to become a Pavlova. What self-respecting girl of any age can resist twirly skirts and tiaras? Certainly not me!
